Serena Williams is truly a force to be reckoned with. She won her first major championship in 1999 and has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles since then. Along with her individual success, Serena has competed alongside her sister Venus Willams. The dynamic duo has won a series of doubles and Serena affectionately refers to Venus as her inspiration. Despite health complications in her early 30's, Serena continued her tennis career and won her second French Open title just a few years later. Her most recent match against Naomi Osaka stirred some controversy due to a dispute with the umpire over accusations of cheating to which Serena replied, "I don't cheat. I'd rather lose". Essence magazine listed her as one of the country's 50 Most Inspiring African Americans as she continues to be a role model for all. View below some of our favorite hairstyles from Serena, her opponent, her sister, and her mom.
